Vishwakarma Institute of Information Technology, PUNE and “ifm electronic” group of multi-national companies head-quartered in Germany, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a Centre of Excellence (COE) based on “ifm electronic” group’s technologies (www.ifm.com ). The Memorandum was signed by Mr. Bharat Agarwal, Director Vishwakarma Institute of Information Technology, PUNE and Dr. Vishwas Udpikar, Managing Director “ifm engineering”, PUNE.

“ifm engineering private limited, PUNE” (IEPL) a subsidiary of “ifm electronic gmbh” in India, focused on research and development of new products, technologies for various other group companies. MoU is between IEPL, Pune and VIIT to establish a Centre of Excellence (COE) in the field of Automation of ifm Technologies and Products”. Objective is to carry out practical teaching, research and development through students, as well as faculty members from different disciplines. Research and development based on use of 2D and 3D image sensors, image processing algorithms in automation industry, will be focused on, along with training human resources with skills relevant to ifm Technologies, products application and development. It will also help to conduct state-of-the-art research and development in technical areas. Provisions for training have been made for students as well as the staff.
