Samuel Koranteng-Pipim, for African Union Diaspora Consultation on the AU “Agenda 2063” in New York

The Diaspora consultation is expected to bring together some of the most influential Africans outside the continent, so as to seek their input in the formulation, planning, and implementation of the African Union’s 50-year roadmap called “Agenda 2063.”

Online PR News – 11-October-2013 – Michigan/USA – The Diaspora consultation is expected to bring together some of the most influential Africans outside the continent, so as to seek their input in the formulation, planning, and implementation of the African Union’s 50-year roadmap called “Agenda 2063.”

A prolific writer, inspirational speaker, and leading advocate for youth empowerment and African excellence, Samuel Koranteng-Pipim, would be part of the core team of African Diaspora selected from the academia, business, media, scientific society, and other thinkers and movers from various walks of life. These would gather from different parts of the world in New York, USA from October 8-10, 2013.

The African Union is hosting this consultation with the African Diaspora to commemorate its 50th Anniversary. The goal is to reflect on the past, assess the present, and plan for the future. Agenda 2063 is designated as the logical culmination of this reflection.

The African Union Commission (AUC) refers to the "African Diaspora" as consisting of "people of African origin living outside the continent, irrespective of their citizenship and nationality and who are willing to contribute to the development of the continent and the building of the African Union." Its constitutive act declares that it shall "invite and encourage the full participation of the African diaspora as an important part of our continent, in the building of the African Union."

Pipim's inclusion in the select group for the African Diaspora consultation in New York arises from the fact that, though resident in the USA, he exerts tremendous influence on the continent and overseas through his writings, public lectures, and leadership training and empowerment activities. His passion for excellence, as well as his incessant calls upon Africans to rise above mediocrity, have been warmly received by a significant number of African youth and young professionals.

AUC officials expected to grace the Diaspora Consultation event in New York include Ambassador Antonio Tete (African Union’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations), Anthony Mothae Maruping (Commissioner Economic Affairs of AUC), Mandla Madonsela (Director of Strategic Planning of AUC, and Jinmi Adisa (Director of African Union’s Citizens and Diaspora Directorate). Other invited participants to the meeting include Puis Adesami, Richard Cambridge, John Tesha, David Horne, Adebayo Olukoshi, Dorothy Davis, Lee Cherry, Boubakar Ndiaye, Dipo Kolawole, David Comissiong, and Chika A. Onyeani.

The Diaspora Consultative session is one of many sessions by which the AU Commission meets with relevant stakeholders to develop a 50-year plan for Africa’s future, tagged “Agenda 2063.”

Samuel Koranteng-Pipim, the Executive Director of EAGLESonline, is a respected writer and mobilizer of African youth and young professionals, both on the continent and Diaspora. His passion for Africa and his call upon the continent to assume its rightful place in the global stage is rooted in his belief that “there is nothing wrong with the African mind, the problem is the African mindset.”

Two of his recent works, “The Transformed Mind” and “Africa Must Think,” set forth his philosophy of “mind liberation.” He explains it is a call think and act differently—a call to excellence, humility, and service. According to Pipim, when heeded, such call can be the basis of transformational social change, not just on the continent of Africa and among Africans in the diaspora, but also in all other societies of the human race. He states: “Although I write as a Ghanaian, the world is my audience, for I write as a citizen of the world to come.”
