Online PR News – 29-June-2010 – – Highlights High Five, a Children's magazine edited for ages 2 to 6 and created by Highlights for Children, has received the coveted Preschool Periodical of the Year by Association of Educational Publishers (AEP).

“It’s an honor to be recognized by the educator community,” says Highlights High Five Editor in Chief Christine French Clark. “We have heard from parents and early childhood educators across the country who are using High Five to foster their children’s natural sense of wonder about the world. It makes engaging with their child fun and easy—and that’s when children learn best.”

According to the US Department of Education, parents are showing increasing interest in reading to young children. Kids' magazine High Five provides age appropriate stories, poems, puzzles and activities that promote reasoning and problem solving and encourage a love of language. Parents and teachers can find a guide to help them engage their children with the magazine’s content at http://www.HighlightsHighFive.com.

One of the largest and longest-running awards programs for educational products, the AEP Awards aim to identify children's magazines and other products that exemplify the highest standards of professional, quality educational content and give credit and recognition to the organizations who are leading the way in this field.

Entries for the Distinguished Achievement Award go through a rigorous screening process. Judges for the competition are chosen from a national pool of educational publishing professionals, including writers, editors, designers, curriculum specialists, product developers and marketing directors.
