Along the route, six hubs namely, Goa Velha, Agacaim (opp. Police station), near Kesarval Hotel, Nagoa, Nuvem (at Carmel College) and Margao (At new Collectorate) have been fixed where school children will be present to cheer the relay as it passes by. The Lusofonia torch design draws inspiration from the beautiful land of Goa. A lot of thought has been put into designing the torch of Lusofonia Games, Goa – 2014. Sharing her thoughts on the design, Ms Sharmila Coutinho, a young talenet graphic designer from Goa who designed the torch, said, “The design has been inspired by the shape of the conical seashell and the aesthetic swirls that come together in the centre at the top that denote ‘Unity’. The flame on the top signifies ‘Pride’. Complementing the body of the torch, the stand and the pattern on the surface of the torch symbolizes the waves and the sea. The Blue shade of the Torch represents the sea, and the shades represent knowledge, power and integrity.”
