Houston artist William H. Miller announces two-month tour of Texas

Just off the heels of a successful 2013 with his art series “Billy Boots”, Winter Street Studios artist William H. Miller recently announced that he is embarking on a tour of Texas cities and towns starting June 30. Looking to artistically document the wide-open spaces and thriving urban centers of the state, Miller is currently in the planning, promotion and fund-raising stages of the tour.

Scheduled from June 30 through Sept. 2, Miller's tour will focus on positive stories about Texas people, cities, towns and events. Through this lone star journey, he will attempt to create 30 paintings based on these travels and experiences, culminating with a show featuring the pieces in September. Currently, Miller is contacting various cities, mayors, visitor bureaus, Texas-based companies and interested arts along with business and civic organizations to find out what make their place unique and special in Texas. More information will be released as sponsors and funding are secured and destinations are selected and confirmed.

Recently named the 2013 John Ross Palmer "Escapist of the Year" after a year of mentorship in the escapism program, Miller created a series of popular cowboy boot paintings for various charity events in Houston and Dallas that inspired him attempt a daily series of paintings for the entire year of 2013. These popular and highly collected 12”x12” paintings of various subjects which incorporated the iconic image of the cowboy boot became fondly known as “Billy Boots”, delighting both collectors and fans of the Texas spirit.

Before he embarks on his southern journey, Miller is looking for sponsors and funds to defer the costs of travel and lodging -- some being financial, some being in trade of services. His campaign and more details about his artistic travel can be found at indiegogo.com and at igg.me/at/billybootarttexastour, #billyboots and by using social media tags. Documenting this unique experience, Miller plans to post daily updates on the tour for his fans and sponsors via Facebook and his website/blog at www.billybootsart.com.
