Dr Harish Hosalkar has extensive medical training at some of the world’s leading institutions, and he is dedicated to his profession. Though Dr Harish Hosalkar’s skill extends to many orthopedic procedures, such as Trauma, Tumors, Foot and Ankle, Hand, deformity correction, neuromuscular orthopedics and pediatric orthopedics, he is probably known best for his continuing work with hip preservation and reconstruction and deformity correction.
“The hip joint is one of the body’s largest weight-bearing joints, and is the point where the thigh bone (femur) and the pelvis (acetabulum) join,” Dr Harish Hosalkar explains. “Hip pain has become a common problem particularly in aggressive sports having vigorous activities. The main reason behind the development of hip pain is due to changes in the shape or structure of the ball and morphology of the socket of hip joint.”
Dr Harish Hosalkar works in a number of hospitals in and around San Diego, California, including the Scripps Mercy Hospitals in San Diego and Chula Vista, Scripps Encinitas Hospital, Sharp Grossmont Hospital in La Mesa, Paradise Valley Hospital in National City, and Tri-city Medical Center in Vista.
“Our goals at Tri-City Hospital Medical Center, which is a phenomenal orthopedic institute, as well as a great community hospital in this part of town, is essentially to build a high-level, advanced, hip preservation and reconstruction program here at this hospital,” he says.
Dr Harish Hosalkar is originally a Native of India. He went to medical school at the University of Mumbai, did his residency at the University of Pennsylvania, and did a Fellowship at the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London, England. “I subsequently did a Fellowship in hip preservation, reconstruction, and trauma at Inselspital Hospital in Bern, Switzerland,” he recalls, “and then came down to San Diego to start working as an attending orthopedic surgeon.”
Dr Harish Hosalkar has spent many years fine-tuning his surgical ability. His patients are always treated with kindness and courtesy.
