Tata Power's Club Enerji saves more than 16 thousand units of electricity in Kolkata

Club Enerji, Tata Power's nationwide conservation programme efforts have led to saving of 16190 Units of electricity.

Online PR News – 30-June-2015 – 01/07/2015/Mumbai/Maharashtra – Club Enerji, Tata Power's nationwide conservation programme commits to nation building by creating responsible citizens in Kolkata, who will focus not only on conserving energy and natural resources (including fossil fuel-coal, oil, gas, water, managing waste, afforestation) but also imbibe civic & moral values. Strengthening the Club Enerji programme in the city, their efforts have led to saving of 16190 Units of electricity and sensitisation of 25,075 citizens across Kolkata in 2014-15 which is a significant rise over last year’s numbers of 3435 and 11657 respectively as a result of the Company’s efforts.

Tata Power has always been a frontrunner and committed towards creating sustainable society by spreading awareness of conservation. Following on the commitment, Tata Power through its Club Enerji campaign, throughout the year, has successfully raised awareness amongst the citizens of Kolkata. The annual campaign helped sensitise more than 25,000 citizens of Kolkata with the help of10 schools in the city, creating 375 Energy Champions and 495 Energy Ambassadors, who led the way to educate citizens about the importance of conservation of energy, natural resources and civic & moral values, leading to a greener and better world.

Tata Power’s Club Enerji initiative has significantly contributed in ensuring energy conservation at the school level and has been a huge success in building a brighter and greener tomorrow by undertaking several successful initiatives at the macro level. At the national level, the initiative has helped in saving 14.2 MUs of electricity equivalent to saving 14,200 tonnes of CO2 and is enough to light up over 6,943 houses for a year. The initiative has further sensitized approximately 9.3 million citizens cross 11 locations in Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Pune, Bangalore, Lonavala, Maithon, Belgaum, Jamshedpur and Ranchi. The movement also helps in spreading awareness among the society by undertaking numerous initiatives through rallies, street plays, cyclothons, exhibitions and batti bandhs to sensitise the larger population.

Tata Power’s Club Enerji has won numerous accolades and has been recognized as a best practice in forums like Learning Mission by the Tata Group. A case study has also been done by IIM Ahmedabad on the programme. Further it has also won the Gold at the ABCI awards in the category ‘Best Communication Material’ and Bronze for its Resource Conservation Module; Asia Pacific Enterprise Leadership Awards (APELA), Singapore, has conferred ‘APELA 2012' - Eco Advocate Award' to Club Enerji.
