CBC GIVES BACK TO THE COMMUNITY THROUGH UJAA’S PROGRAMS

Dec 2 CBC will use its holiday business networking event to raise funds for UJAA’s basic school program which provides food and school supplies.

Online PR News – 16-November-2015 – Nov 13, 2015 Freeport NY – On Dec 2th, 2015 CBC hosts its holiday business networking event which will be used to raise funds for UJAA, Union of Alumni Associations (USA) Inc., a non-profit umbrella organization whose member organizations provide, among other things, school, supplies, food and uniforms for needy children in basic, primary and secondary schools in Jamaica. CBC gives back to the community by working with UJAA, Union of Alumni Association (USA) Inc., a non-profit umbrella organization whose member organizations provide, among other things, school, supplies, food and uniforms for needy children in basic, primary and secondary schools in Jamaica. UJAA has a variety of education-centric programs that support students in the USA and in Jamaica. On Wednesday December 2nd CBC’s regular monthly business networking event will be transformed into a fundraising event for UJAA’s projects to expand its reach into the basic schools in Jamaica.

“We are very happy to be working with CBC as we are sure this holiday event will greatly increase awareness of and contributions to our projects” says UJAA’s President, Lesleyann Samuel. “Since its inception CBC has proven to be more than just a business networking entity but an organization that genuinely cares about the community it operates in.”

At this event CBC’s members, strategic partners, sponsors and event attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about and contribute to these projects. This is a free holiday event and fundraiser to be held 6 – 8 PM at Mirelle’s Restaurant & Catering 170 Post Ave Westbury NY 11590.

In September 2015 CBC gave back by raising funds to donate to UJAA’s High School Graduate Awards. CBC’s gift was presented to Danielle Lyerly graduated from New Rochelle High School and is a member of the National Honor Society, Habitat for Humanity and participant on the Step Team. Danielle was a member of Mindshapers, STRIVE and participated in SUPA Forensics the Charity Midnight run. She is now attends Carnegie Mellon University where she majors in Business and Psychology.

ABOUT UJAA: The Union of Jamaican Alumni Association (UJAA) was founded in 1990 as a not-for-profit umbrella organization of alumni associations of Jamaican educational institutions. Based in New York, it was created to assist in the unification of the activities of those associations dedicated to the improvement of educational opportunities for all students in Jamaica and those who have immigrated to the USA.
