DISABLED VETERAN PAYS RESPECTS TO KILLED NEPHEW THANKS TO LAST MINUTE HELP FROM TGA ELECTRIC

Online PR News – 26-November-2010 – – Disabled ex-soldier Ernie Taylor from Hackney, who has been house bound for a year, managed to attend the Remembrance Parade in London last Sunday and pay respects to his recently lost Nephew from the same regiment thanks to the last minute delivery of a TGA mobility scooter.

For 25 years, TGA has been a leading national expert in mobility product provision, with a specialty in scooters. This family-run business is continually committed to delivering independence and freedom to less able individuals and when the TGA Directors were told about Ernie’s situation, they immediately actioned all they could to get him to the Cenotaph. Ernie is from Hackney and was injured back in 1973 by a milk churn bomb whilst serving in Northern Ireland. He unfortunately lives with disabilities that include stroke and shell shock, however his young Nephew, Steven Campbell was never deterred in joining the 2nd Battalion Rifles and serving in the same regiment as his Uncle. Steven was tragically killed during active service this year in Afghanistan and hence Ernie was desperate to gain the mobility he needed to march past the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday. Military bravery has always run in Ernie’s family with his Great Grandfather Robert Woodhams of 2nd Battalion Durham Light Infantry, being awarded two George Medals, one in each of the World Wars for acts of great heroism.

Following the sad lost of Steven and being promised support from his regiment, Ernie is now planning a charity fundraising walk on his TGA Breeze 4 from John O’Groats to Land’s End next year to raise funds for the military charity Care for Casualties. Tim Ross, Sales Director for TGA commented, “As a business, TGA supports the needs of many ex-service men through the supply of mobility products and recently supported Darren Heaton’s wheelchair Walk for Heroes by loaning a scooter and service support so he could raise funds for several military charities.

When we heard about Ernie’s situation with only a few days before Remembrance Sunday, all the TGA employees involved with scooter provision knew they had to pull out all the stops. With any purchase, there is always an extensive amount of product preparation and paperwork to resolve before the scooter can be personally delivered to a customer’s doorstep, however we were delighted in how quickly it all came together for Ernie. As Ernie used the Higher Rate Mobility Component of his Disability Living Allowance to purchase the Breeze 4 through Motability, we also had to liaise with this organisation to ensure the Breeze 4 was delivered in time. All the representatives at Motability could not have been more helpful and efficient in processing Ernie’s acquisition. I would like to thank Motability and all my team who over-delivered on this and we wish Ernie good luck in his 2011 charity walk.”
