Online PR News – 08-September-2017 – Media – Elwyn’s Special Education for Early Intervention Program in Philadelphia, known as SEEDS, has received a grant of 450 new children’s books from the Molina Foundation for their “Books Across Pennsylvania” campaign. SEEDS staff picked up the donated books on August 29 at the Salvation Army in Philadelphia. These books will be distributed to children ages 3-5 years with developmental disabilities served by SEEDS to support literacy development. The Molina Foundation’s campaign has donated over 14,000 new books to 27 different agencies with an estimated value of $107,000. The books donated to SEEDS have an estimated value of $3,439.00.

In 1998, Elwyn launched the Special Education for Early Intervention Program, recognizing the growing needs of children with autism and other special challenges who live in compromised communities in the City of Philadelphia, This specialized program offers Philadelphia’s children, ages 3-5, living in the city’s most socio-economically underserved communities, early intervention screening services and care coordination.

In January, 2017, an additional 2000 disadvantaged children, residing in previously underserved city neighborhoods, were added to the roster of children who qualify for the unique early intervention services Elwyn provides. Currently, across the City of Philadelphia, 10,000 children and families benefit from Elwyn’s transformative program.
